P.P. HORNSBY
HALE E. NORMAN
*FRED CUPHOLDERS
45-54--- 99
54-46--- 100
52-54--- 106
For a third straight year the LGA season extended into the month of November with an event at the league's home course,
Caughnawaga. P.P. Hornsby scored four consecutive front nine pars, a personal record, to take a huge 7 shot lead at the turn,
and, despite a lousy 54 on the second nine, hung on for a slim one shot victory over Hale Erwin Norman for his fourth win of the
campaign. Norman actually trailed by nine headed to the tenth tee, armed with the knowledge that no lead is big enough when
Hornsby is on top. Hale was right. Norman's par on the par-4 12th combined with Hornsby's 9 (hurl!!!), a 5-shot swing, made it a
game. Hornsby, famous for choking away huge leads, prevailed against all odds, although he almost blew it anyway, leaving his
first putt on the 18th green about 20 feet past the hole. P.P. put the next one close enough to tap-in for the win. With his 100,
Norman ended his consecutive sub-100 game streak at 5. Sole rightie in the field was Lefty Masters champion Fred
Cupholders, playing in his first event since September 27th. Managing yet another 18 holes without scoring a par, Fred finished
last. Cupholders also had the lead at one point, by three shots, but it was after only one hole. By the time the trio had covered
about a mile of golf course, it was 'Bye Bye Freddie'. Reduced to a footnote was Dr. Mario Blondin, who was again scheduled to
take part in this 'official' event, but failed to show up. If the doctor had as many birdies as no-shows in '03, he would be leading
the league.

HALE E. NORMAN
CHRIS 9-IRON KID
P.P. HORNSBY
49-49--- 98
54-58--- 112
64-65--- 129
It wasn't easy, but the LGA managed to stage its 40th event of 2003 in less than ideal conditions at The Cog. Hale Erwin
Norman waited until late November to post his first 40-plus putting performance of the year, counting a crap-based 41 putts, but
nevertheless broke 100 to take his 18th victory by a whopping 14 shots. Norman fired double 49's, pretty good in the sloppy
conditions. Well back in runner-up position in the all-lefty field was Chris The 9-Iron Kid, who played a disappointing 112 but did
score his second birdie of the season with a beauty on 10. 9-Iron's posting was more than good enough to beat a visibly sore
P.P. Hornsby. Hornsby bragged prior to the event that he had not played a round worse than 118 all year, then promptly
proceeded to his vomit-reeking 129, which didn't include any 10's but had 6 nines!!! As a result, Hornsby fell back in several
categories on the LGA leaderboard, effectively ruining his season. At this late stage in the 2003 season, and with Hale Erwin
Norman in the number one rank in all categories, it is pretty safe to suggest that Norman will be named LGA Player of The Year
for the 10th time in his career, which were it not against LGA competition, would definitely be something to brag about.
