After yet another weekend off, the LGA headed into the month of October with a visit to The Cog. With only legendary lefthanders
in the field, the event promised to be a dramatic one, but then again, promises are broken often in the LGA. Hale Erwin Norman
took advantage of a respectable front nine 45 and a disappointing first half by both of his competitors, holding on coming in for
an easy five shot win over Dr. Mario Blondin. Norman now stands at ten and a half victories for the season, tops in the LGA. Hale
has also moved to within percentage points of passing Fred Cupholders for number one rank in scoring average, with a limited
number of events remaining. For runner-up Blondin, it was his second-straight double-digit round, and only sixth of the season.
Still the doctor has shown signs of returning to his championship form of previous seasons, and we can maybe expect a better
future for Mario, providing of course that he continues his recent practice of performing late night surgery on Thursday nights
instead of Fridays, and if he continues to resist large chested women anxious to keep him from the glamour which is the LGA.
Rounding out the field was Paul Hornsby III. Failing to score any pars during the round, 'Da Turd' also failed once again to break
100, having now gone four consecutive events without having done so after his famous record-tying nine straight through the
summer. Hornsby's putting was a terrible as ever, needing 38 putts to complete the round. Expect the battle for top scoring
average to reach a crescendo during the next couple of weeks, as the LGA hopes to have at least one more showdown between
the top lefty and rightie over the next several weeks. Needless to say, in October, the aforementioned must be qualified with that
age-old phrase, 'weather permitting'.

The LGA kicked off what will almost certainly be its final doubleheader weekend of the 2004 campaign with a visit to The Cog.
Hale Erwin Norman continued his improved play of late, emerging victorious after a three-way see-saw battle through the back
nine, for a three shot victory over fellow lefties Dr. Mario Blondin and Paul Hornsby III. Norman trailed Blondin by five shots
through 14, then witnessed the doctor fire consecutive eights, a critical development in Norman's win, his eleven and a halfth
(pardon the English) of 2004. Dr. Blondin didn't help matters any by putting 39 times. Hornsby was also in contention late into the
round, effectively falling out with his seven on the beer hole 17th. Rounding out the field was top righthander Costa Doinbiznis,
who had a vomit inducing round even by his standards. Despite a birdie on hole number one, 'The Biz' ballooned to a front-nine
62, before settling down a little on the back. He would walk into the clubhouse posting a 113, also with 39 putts. With the
absence of Fred Cupholders, Norman moved into number one spot in scoring average for the season, solidifying as well his
candicacy for LGA Player of The Year, a feat which should he be able to complete would be his 12th such award over the the Lefty
Golfers Association 13 seasons of existence, indicating once again just how crappy the Association really is.

Paging through LGA history, Thanksgiving Monday has seen some memorable performances. This year was no exception. Paul
Hornsby III, after firing a front nine 42, his best of the season, which featured him playing the first three holes in a sizzling one
under par, headed to the 17th tee needing only two double-bogeys to break 90, a feat he has yet to accomplish in his
less-than-illustrious career. But Paul would score a 7 on the par-3 17th, followed by a 10 on the famous 18th at Lafleur to finish
runner-up once again to Hale Erwin Norman. Hornsby could not contain his anger as his third shot on 17 sailed into the water,
blaming Norman for his vomit-reeking play. Norman responded by simply taking the win, bringing his season total to 12.5. It was
also his fifth consecutive round in double-digits. Hale's play was less spectacular than usual, but Hornsby's choke was perhaps
the most heart-breaking ever, reminiscent of the famous Bonniebrook incident of 2001. Last place in the all-lefty field fell to Dr.
Mario Blondin, who continued his difficult season, in spite of his two major victories. His front-nine 58 was particularly
magot-producing, highlighted by a 12 on the par-5 first hole, a hole during which the doctor was almost completely missing the
ball. After the event, Hornsby was in a less than talkative mood, deciding not to stop for a beer in the clubhouse after the event, a
truly rare occurance. It might take a while before he gets over this one.

The 2004 season was extended into late October once again as another all-lefty field graced the fairways (and woods, of course)
of Lafleur Golf Club for yet another 'official' LGA event. Swishing through the autumn leaves, Hale Erwin fired two birdies for the
day, and added five pars for good measure on his way to an 85, best by a lefty in 2004, and one shot shy of Fred Cupholders'
season mark of 84 set in much better mid-summer conditions. Norman's score was more than good enough for an easy
nine-shot win over Dr. Mario Blondin, Hale's fourth straight. Blondin also enjoyed one of his finer rounds this season, posting
four pars of his own. Mario carded the 94 in spite of his 38 putts for the round. Finishing in third position was Paul Hornsby III,
still reeling over his choke of almost two weeks ago. 'Da Turd' also putted 38 times, but came in with a double-digit score for a
second straight game. Completing the leaderboard, in his first appearance since his bronze medal performance at the Lefty
Olympics of Golf, was Chris The 9-Iron Kid, whose 101 made him the goat in the foursome's quest for four sub-100 scores on
the same card, something rarely accomplished in the LGA. Although it is unknown whether there will be any more events in the
2004 season, it appears sure that Hale Erwin Norman will win Player of The Year honours once again, something which was in
doubt before Norman's sweep of the month of October.

The LGA staged its first ever 'official' event on Hallowe'en, and although it was widely expected that the scores would be scary, in
reality they were not too bad (at least by pathetic LGA standards). Hale Erwin Norman completed his total domination of the
month of October, winning yet another all-lefty event by seven shots over Dr. Mario Blondin. Norman started the round with three
consecutive pars before becoming human again, but in short order his lead would become insurmountable anyway. Runner-up
Blondin posted his second straight sub-100 round, much to his relief. It was only the ninth time Blondin has broken 100 this
season and only fifth time since June 5th, a period spanning 15 games, terrible numbers for the former LGA champion. Chris
The 9-Iron Kid, playing for a second straight week, managed to sneak into double-digits this time around, although by the
slimmest possible margin. His 99 enabled him to maintain his third place status in LGA ranking for the season, his best ever, a
ranking which can be attributed in great part to Blondin's demise. Paul Hornsby III ended October the way he began it, with a last
place finish and a 101. Hornsby also can claim a decent season after a horrible first half, but remember, there may still be more
LGA golf in '04 to skewer the numbers and change things, and based on past experience, any changes would probably be for the
worse.
