An all-lefty foursome was the field as the LGA launched the month of September with an event at Brossard. Hale Erwin Norman
returned to the winner's circle for only the third time this season. Trailing by one behind Dr. Mario Blondin through 17 holes,
Hale scored par on the beer hole 18th against the doctor's double bogey for a one shot victory. It was truly a see-saw battle
between the top two. Blondin led by four through 5, but after an 11 on the par-4 9th, would find himself down by four at the turn.
Still Mario rallied to move ahead of Norman through 17 as already mentioned, thanks to three pars and a birdie. Norman had
four pars and also scored a birdie for the day. Chris The 9-Iron Kid took third place with a 99, succeeding in breaking 100 for
only the second time this season in nine appearances. Chris could have scored lower were it not for his identical nines on the
first two par-5's. Rounding out the pack, once again, was a struggling Paul Hornsby III, whose season just seems to keep
getting worse. During his 111 yawnfest he appeared to almost give up at times. He finished with a bang, however, after blasting
it into the hole from the greenside bunker for par/beer on 18. Hornsby has not scored in double digits since June 10th, a time
spanning 13 events. "I'm hoping to run out the calendar", Hornsby said of his 2007 campaign.

The annual Labour Day classic, The Workman's Compensation Trophy, one of the LGA's two 'minor' named tournaments of
each golf season, was held late this year due to bad weather and some laziness on the part of LGA officials. It was also the
second straight event at Brossard. Dr. Mario Blondin got off to a sizzling start, scoring par on holes 2, 3 and 4, building a strong
seven shot lead thorugh 6. The doctor then hung on for a two shot victory over a charging Fred Cupholders for his fourth
tournament win of 2007. Blondin's 90, his low score of the year, included a very strong seven pars. As for Cupholders, he
rallied back during the second half, actually taking a one stroke lead heading to the 14th tee, but Blondin answered with
back-to-back regulation pars to reclaim top spot. Mario opened the door for Fred on 17 by scoring eight on the par-5, but
Cupholders also scored eight, missing a grand opportunity for a win. Chris The 9-Iron Kid made his 10th appearance of the
season, including his fourth consecutive, an all-time personal best. Chris celebrated the milestone by breaking 100 thanks to
a back nine 45, taking third place. Completing the field yet again was a visibly frustrated Paul Hornsby III, who bettered his
score of last week by a shot, but was still unable to crack 110, finishing exactly on that number. Hornsby dropped to the cellar
early on with a 13 on the par-5 3rd hole, where in anger he took 4 swings to hit the ball out of a bush. Sadly, although Hornsby's
back nine did not contain any holes in double figures, it still added up to 55 just like his front nine did.

For the 12th straight season, the Lefty Olympics of Golf, the longest running LGA major tournament, was once again, apart
from the scores of course, successfully held, although the field of nation participants was its smallest in quite some time. In
what turned into a two horse race as the golfers played through the back nine, Costa Doinbiznis would emerge victorious over
Hale Erwin Norman by one shot, earning his second lifetime gold medal for his native Cuba. Norman led by as many as three
shots through ten holes, and in spite of a birdie on the par-4 12th hole, could not put it away, settling instead for a silver medal,
adding to his career Olympic hardware collection. 'The Biz' answered Norman's bird with three straight pars on 11, 12 and 13.
Taking the bronze medal was Lebanon's Fred Cupholders with a respectable 98, but seven big shots off of the pace. The three
medalists were the only players to score in double digits on this day. Ten shots behind Cupholders was Chris The 9-Iron Kid,
representing Greece. 9-Iron needed 19 shots to complete the first two par-5's, leading to cries of "Oihy!" from Greeks around
the world. Next on the leaderboard, finishing fifth, we find Paul Hornsby III, who once again failed to break 110 to continue this
latest stretch of vomit-spewing golf, but still managed to hang on to his position by a single stroke over Pietro Lewinsky of Italy,
who finished sixth, defeating Dr. Mario Blondin of Ireland for the first time in his career, and by 12 whopping shots! The doctor
appeared tired after another session of all night surgery, especially on the front nine, where he would fire a 65 which featured a
15 (heave!!!) on the par-4 3rd hole. The 124 was Blondin's highest career score, bringing into question whether Mario should
continue his routine of staying up late into the night "operating".

Controversy surrounded the resident LGA doctor once again as the Association returned to action after a two-week hiatus with
an 'official' event at Les Legendes. With LGA ironman Paul Hornsby III stuck in traffic on his way to the course, the remainder of
the field agreed to wait for his arrival before commencing the tournament, with the exception of, who else, but Dr. Mario Blondin,
who broke LGA tradition once again, this time by causing the first ever multi-group event without the members playing in
consecutive groups on the course, breaking Association rules. Conditions on the course can change drastically, after all, in
this part of the world. Still, Mario chipped in for birdie on the par-4 1st hole, then rallied later on from a four shot deficit with back
to back pars late in the round, winning by three over top rightie Costa Doinbiznis. The Biz also scored a birdie early in the
round, on the par-5 2nd to be exact, and also added 5 pars to his scorecard, but finished the last three holes in 9-over par,
effectively conceding the event. Paul Hornsby III grabbed last spot on the podium, finally breaking 110 but still very unsatisfied
with his round, especially after scoring 48 going out. Hornsby announced after the event that he would not take part in the next
LGA tournament, which would end his current streak of consecutive appearances at 186. Chris The 9-Iron Kid also had a
difficult round, equalling his worst of the campaign with a 112. He apppeared to fade late as his back nine 62 indicates.
Appearing in his third event of 2008, Tommy Armoury lowered his season scoring average, if you can believe it, with a 144, but
there will be forever a footnote when referencing Tommy's round. Official scorekeeper for the group, once again, Dr. Mario
Blondin, failed to register his number of putts. It remains to be seen whether Blondin's victory will be contested by any
interested parties.
