The LGA picked a perfect weather day to kick start the month of August at Caughnawaga, which featured a matchup between
numbers one and two, longtime champion Hale Erwin Norman and upstart rightie Fred Cupholders. It was Cupholders who
would fire a front nine 43 and build a six stroke lead thorugh ten, only to watch Hale Erwin Norman reduce the deficit gradually
coming in, falling short of victory by a single shot. The victory puts Cupholders at three and a half wins for 2006. Norman's
round was highlighted by his birdie on the par-3 6th, his third of the season, pathetically matching the output of the rest of the
Association for the season. Costa Doinbiznis was next on the leaderboard, finishing in a disappointing third position. Costa's
fate may have been sealed as early as the third hole, which he finished in ten shots. Still, 'The Biz' would finish in double-digits,
unlike cellar-dweller Paul Hornsby III. To his credit, it appeared as though Hornsby would finish well above the 100 score he
carded, but his chip-in from behind the green at the beer hole 17th and a regulation par on 18 improved his lot. When asked
after the event how one manages to score five pars and yet not break 100, Hornsby replied sarcastically (we think), "I just
showed you how."

An 'official' event humourously billed as Fred Cupholders versus the LGA's 'B' Division took place at the Woodlands Course at
Bellevue. As is the case often with humour, it turned out to be true, and maybe even funny. Cupholders broke a deadlock with
Chris The 9-Iron Kid through ten with consecutive pars, leading to a runaway six-shot victory, but the lack of competition
prevented Cupholders from keeping the focus needed to break 100, and he would finish at exactly that number. Cupholders
scored eights on the last two par 5's, effectively denying his double-digit round. For Chris, the disappointment was even
greater, as he carded a 57 coming in, after a decent front nine 49. He finished in second place easily, seven shots ahead of
the big surprise of the day, Pietro Lewinsky. Pietro's round was surprising not because he fired a 113 which happened to be
his season best and career second lowest, but because for the first time in his career he beat a tenured LGA lefthander, Paul
Hornsby III. Hornsby's round was so tough he had his sights set on Lewinsky from practically the first hole. Heading to the
dogleg 13th, 'Da Turd', at this point 4 behind Lewinsky, resorted to desperation, trying to cut the dogleg which resulted in a
couple of lost balls and an 11. After that, all he could do was pray for rain, which never materialized. Lewinsky was thrilled to
earn a big number "1" under the win column in the versus all opponents category. A gracious Hornsby shook Lewinsky's hand
on the 18th green, but frankly did not look too thrilled.

If today's special Friday afternoon LGA event were a movie, it would have been called "The Revenge of the 'B' Division", as once
again the lower rung of the LGA standings did battle. And battle they did, especially with their golf swings. Chris The 9-Iron Kid
took advantage of the weak field to grab his second LGA victory in as many months. As has been known to occur from time to
time in the Association, disgunstingly, 9-Iron managed the two shot win without scoring a single par. He did hit two greens in
regulation, however, each of which he obviously three-putted. Next on the leaderboard was Paul Hornsby III, who improved on
his previous performance, although by no means could we call his round great. Paul's 108, however mediocre, was
importantly 13 shots better than top righthander Pietro Lewinsky, who shocked the LGA world with his victory over Hornsby the
previous Saturday. Still all in all it was another mucus filled performance by the long suffering lefty. As for Lewinsky, appearing
in his second event during the same week, a rarity for Pietro, despite some positives such as his regulation par on the very
long 218 yard par-3 4th, he failed to break 60 on both nines. Regardless, Lewinsky score was vastly improved over his last visit
to Lafleur, after which he almost quit golf. In other LGA news, earlier in the week it was announced that the 2006 Lefty Masters
for the coveted Yellow Jacket, originally scheduled for tomorrow, was rescheduled for Saturday, September 2nd, for reasons
which are not considered any of the business of visitors to this site. Just try and contact us with a compaint.

More prefect golf weather was in store as an all lefty field made yet another trip to Bellevue Golf Club, in the sleepy town of Lery.
Luckily the weather was above average because the performances of our lefty heroes were anything but. Hale Erwin Norman
took the lead through nine holes and never looked back, carding 48's on each nine for a 96, his average score for the season,
and good enough for his sixth win in only eight events this year. Norman finished five shots better than runner up Dr. Mario
Blondin. It was the doctor's first appearance this month, but he still managed to score right on his season's average at 101.
Mario finished strongly, coming in with a decent 47. Third place honours fell to Chris The 9_iron Kid, appearing in his third
straight LGA event, a rarity for 9-Iron. Despite the flurry of games of late, Chris scored right on his season average at 105. His
38 putts were indeed above average, but so was the speed of the greens, with the stimpmeter registering at 'airport runway'
levels. Completing the field was Paul Hornsby III, who bucked the trend by failing to score anywhere near his average. After
going out in 57, 'Da Turd' played even worse coming in, riding a 12 on the par-5 4th en route to a horrid 118. This writer could
not find words to describe Hornsby's average over the last three events (116.3!!!), a number which can only be considered
extreme for a 16-year LGA veteran.
