After another washed out weekend, and another wet Saturday, the LGA finally returned to action with a visit to the Oakville
Course at Dorval. The course was wet and the players were rusty, explaining the single par from the entire threesome. Of
course, lack of talent would also serve as an adequate explanation. Proud owner of that par was Dr. Mario Blondin, and it was
a much needed par as he rode it en route to a two shot victory over righthander Fred Cupholders. Blondin and Cupholders
were tied through 15 after the doctor fired a barf-ingesting 9 on the difficult par-4, but Mario would finish with three straight 5's,
a finish which, although mediocre, was more than plenty to seal the LGA win. For Cupholders the result was disappointing, as
his 103 was his first triple-digit score of the season. And while we are on the topic of triple-digit scores, let's discuss the round
of one Paul Hornsby III, who also posted his worst score of the 2006 season, and it was indeed much worse. 'Da Turd'
entered the turn with a lousy 57, and then started to play badly, making the 57 seem almost respectable. Hornsby chipped-in
on 18 for a 123. With the win Dr. Blondin now leads the LGA with 2 and a half tournament victories for '06, but only time will tell
whether our late-night surgeon has re-established himself as one of the elite golfers in the Association. Please understand
that, at least in this case, 'elite' should be considered a relative term.

Three groggy eyed lefties and one wide awake rightie enjoyed a 7:00 AM tee time for the LGA's first trip to Lafleur this season.
Although the starting time was bright and early, the performances were far from bright, and the only other thing that was early
was the time that the golfers hit the century mark. Dr. Mario Blondin led the way, posting a respectable 47 going out, and it
appeared as though the doctor would return to double-digits for the day, but he would fire an 8 on the par-5 18th to finish with
101 and a two shot victory over Chris The 9-Iron Kid, the latter competing in only his second event this year. 9-Iron also started
the day rather well, and counted five pars for the event, but Chris would also balloon over the last two holes, with his seven on
the beer hole 17th proving especially disappointing. Next on the ladder of merit was full-time, all-time and long time LGA loser
Paul Hornsby III, who took yet another loss while posting yet another mediocre score, this time a 106. Hornsby scored back to
back pars on 15 and 16 to salvage something from the day. Unable to salvage anything however was top rightie Pietro
Lewinsky, who reversed an early season promising trend with a thoroughly barf-spewing 136, which included a front nine 73.
Lewinsky in fact played the LGA equivalent of a bogey-free round, failing to score any bogeys for the day (forget about pars and
birdies). His air ball on the tee at one would be an indication of how tough the day was going to be for Lewinsky. In fact, he was
playing so badly on the front nine that three gunshots were heard on the golf course, causing Dr. Blondin and 9-Iron to hide
behind their golf bags. It is not known whether it was a gallery member trying to put Lewinsky out of his misery.

Summerlike weather was finally in store for the LGA as it completed a doubleheader weekend at Caughnawaga, and it wasn't
only the weather that would heat up. In what would turn out as one of the better battles so far this year, Fred Cupholders and
Hale Erwin Norman fought wire to wire, with the rightie Cupholders emerging victorious by two. While Norman scored a birdie,
his first of the year on the par-4 12th, Cupholders, answered with back to back pars on 13 and 14, extending his lead to three.
From there Fred would never look back, entering the clubhouse with 88 and the LGA low round for 2006. Norman's 90 was
also his season's best. Hanging on for a third place finish was Paul Hornsby III, who played well enough to post his second
double-digit score of the year. Hornsby was well in contention through 11 holes, but his eight on the aforesaid par-4 12th
would ensure that the only fight remaining thereafter would be to avoid the cellar. By winning the beer on 17, 'Da Turd' assured
just that. Hornsby also scored four straight pars from holes 3 to 6, and six pars for the day, both personal records. And falling
to last place on this day was one Dr. Mario Blondin, who fell shy of his own double-digit round after missing a two footer on 18,
but the blame could not be placed on that missed putt alone, as the doctor counted 39 putts in all. There was also a nine and
two eights that could share the balme, but in reality the fault lies with the golfer himself, and not the inanimate numbers he
causes.

With most of the LGA either planning a trip for the long weekend or hungover, the Association resorted to its earliest ever tee
time, 6:26 AM, for an 'official' event at Caughnawaga. Of the groggy trio, rightie Fred Cupholders appeared the most awake,
scoring four pars on the front nine and five for the day en route to a very easy 16-shot victory over both of his opponents. With
the 91, Cupholders can now claim five double-digit rounds of the six LGA events he has attended this year. Finishing tied for
second were top and only lefty Paul Hornsby III and northpaw Costa Doinbiznis, each entering the clubhouse with
disappointing 107's. In Hornsby's case, it was once again his brutal short game wreaking havoc on his score, while in the
case of 'The Biz', observers blamed his worse than usual performance on the fact that he played driver off almost every tee,
something Costa has avoided doing for a couple of seasons. Doinbiznis denied it was the problem, but history has proven that
almost every time Costa has played driver on the par-5 5th, he has scored at least a 10. On this day it would be a
barf-swallowing 12!!!  Regardless the battle for second was tight, going down to the wire with Doinbiznis scoring par on 18 to
catch Hornsby and create the second-place tie. Remember that in the LGA, in the event of a tie between a lefthander and a
righthander, the southpaw always gets top billing.
