In a move almost guaranteed to increase the scoring averages, the LGA made the trek to a slightly reconfigured Bonniebrook
for an 'official' event. And up indeed the averages went, with the exception of that of Paul Hornsby III, who, in what had to be
considered an upset in this field, took the lead on hole number one and led from wire to wire for his first victory of 2007, a
five-stroker over Fred Cupholders. 'Da Turd''s short game seemed to return to life after several seasons of vomitodourous
chipping, contributing to the win. Nevertheless, Hornsby posted yet another score in triple-digits, as quadruple bogeys on 15
and 17 denied him the accomplishment of breaking 100 for the first time since June 18, 2006. Grabbing the runner-up spot by
a single shot was top righthander Cupholders. Although once again unspectacular in style and substance, Fred was able to
hang on to second spot in spite of Dr. Mario Blondin's near ace birdie on the par-3 18th. Fred now has the best winning
percentage versus all opponents in the LGA this season. For Blondin, a non existent slice contributed to a front-nine 58 before
he straightened out his aiming for the back nine, where he fired a 50, the best finishing nine for the day. Numero uno ranked
Costa Doinbiznis started the day undefeated for the season, but by the time he entered the clubhouse he not only was
defeated by his opponents but by himself as well. A combination of bad luck early on and a plethora of lost ball penalties (not
to mention 39 putts) would add up to 111, by far his worst round this year. "It didn't seem so bad", Costa explained following
the event, to a howl of disagreement. Sadly, Hornsby's victory was the first by a lefty this season.

The LGA continued on its shopping spree for new courses, arriving at Le Cardinal in Laval on another beautifully sunny, perfect
day for golf. Starting on the back nine, Costa Doinbiznis built a four-shot lead through 10 over Paul Hornsby III, but Hornsby
rallied back, taking the lead through 17. Down by one on 18, 'The Biz' drained a crucial 10 footer after Hornsby's 12-foot putt for
the win drifted to the left, to finish in a first place tie, spot on the century mark. For Hornsby, the point-five victory leaves him
undefeated for the month of May. Yes you read that pervious line correctly. As for Costa, the half win ups his season total to
three and a half, although he has yet to break 100 this month. Of course Hornsby adds another game to his own streak of
triple-digit rounds, which now stands at 25! Completing the field was a fatigued Dr. Mario Blondin, fresh from another session
of late night, all night surgery. Sporting dark glasses, the outlook for the doctor was indeed black, as he finished in last place.
Actually, all things considered, Mario's performance, a 110, could have been much, much worse. By the way, with another tie
occupying the Association results, you are once again reminded that in the LGA, when there exists a tie between a lefty and a
righthander, the lefty always gets top billing. Always.

50-43---   93
49-54--- 103
52-53--- 105
After almost two months of travelling the world (or at least the Greater Montreal area) in search of new courses to conquer, the
LGA finally returned to Caughnawaga for the first time in 2007. Following a lacklustre front half, Costa Doinbiznis regained his
torrid early season form on the back nine, firing a 43 which inluded three pars, to run away with a ten shot victory over fellow
rightie Fred Cupholders. With the win, 'The Biz' has now won (or tied) every event this season with the exception of two, and in
one of those he was not part of the field. Although at first glance this does not bode well for Doinbiznis' LGA opposition,
everyone, including Costa, knows that in the LGA, things can change quickly, and usually do. For runner-up Fred Cupholders,
change cannot come soon enough. Another round in triple digits, this one featuring two quadruple bogeys and a quint, has
allowed Fred's scoring average to enter triple-digit territory. Cupholders actually had a one shot lead through nine but
squandered that in short order. And speaking of triple digits and short orders, Paul Hornsby III, appearing in his 167th
consecutive 'official' event dating back to June 27, 2002, with the last 26 being over 99, posted another disappointing round,
ending his undeated streak at two. It took Hornsby 22 shots to complete the first three holes before he settled down. His third
hole featured consecutive air balls from an opening in the woods with his ball inches from a tree stump, so even though, as we
mentioned, that some things can change quickly in the LGA, other things seem to never change, with Hornsby's course
management being one of them.

The Doculab Cup, which has quietly become a Victoria Day holiday tradition in the LGA, saw its best weather and biggest field
ever take to the links at Caughnawaga. With nobody scoring below 50 on the front nine (quite incredible at The Cog), the door
was wide open for most of the field to earn an important victory. When all was said and done, however, it was Costa Doinbiznis
reigning supreme once again by two shots, holding off a charging Dr. Mario Blondin and a rusty Hale Erwin Norman. Although
the round was not the best by Doinbiznis, his 99, the only round in double digits in the entire field, proved good enough. Down
by three through 15, Costa scored pars on 16 and the beer hole 17th to rally back for the win. In fact, 'The Biz' was in third place
as late as throouh 16 holes. For Blondin, things looked quite horrible at the turn, after a front-nine 57, but things picked up
coming in. Despite his 44 being the best nine of the day by far, it was spoiled by consecutive double bogeys on the final three
holes, costing him the victory. Also finishing in second place was Hale Erwin Norman, taking part in his first LGA event in 2007.
Hale was not really true to his old form, needing 38 putts to complete the round and achieving only one par. Chris The 9-Iron
Kid was next on the leaderboard, scoring 103, mostly thanks to a bad start, taking 22 shots on the first three holes. Interstingly
(and pukingly), every golfer in the field except Norman had a score of at least 22 though three. 9-Iron's fourth place finish was
by a full five strokes over the next golfer in the pecking order, Paul Hornsby III. Yes, 'Da Turd' added yet again to his streak of
games over 100, but his 109 looked great next to the scores of Pietro Lewinsky, and especially Tommy Armoury. Lewinsky's
127, which featured a refurbished swing, was Pietro's best score this season. His game also featured another rarity for Pietro,
not a single hole in double digits! Rounding out the pack was rookie righthander Tommy Armoury. Having been trained at golf
while playing in strip club tournaments, Tommy understandable though that a bottle of rum was standard part of a golfer's
equipment. After breaking his 5-wood on the front nine, his 92 coming in was testimony as to how useful a bottle actually is as
a golf club.
