Cool but sunny weather was in store for the LGA's first 'official' event at Candiac since 1999. Although conditions were a little
bit sloppy, there could be no valid excuses for the incredibly crappy scores posted. The least infected scorecard of the day
belonged to Costa Doinbiznis, who failed to score a green in regulation en route to a 104 and his second straight victory, a
three-shot thumping of Dr. Mario Blondin. Of the two pars Costa managed, one was of the chip-in variety on the par-4 13th. The
Biz's 47 coming in would be the only nine under 50 for this event. As for Blondin, he finally got his putting under control after a
couple of bad games, but his play still reeked. Mario's 107 takes over as his worst thus far in '06, and the doctor now
shamefully possesses three straight rounds in triple-digits. And speaking of shame and triple-digits, next on the leaderboard
was Paul Hornsby III, who promised a couple of weeks ago that he would not have another game over 110. Oh well. Hornsby
carded three 10's for the day, and had to make a great shot on 18 to hold off Pietro Lewinsky for third place. 'Da Turd' also
three-putted after reaching the beer hole in regulation and being closest to the pin (heave!!!). And yes, it was interesting for the
aforementioned Lewinsky. Looking for his first victory against an LGA regular since April 2001, when he shockingly defeated
both Fred Cupholders and Costa Doinbiznis during the same round, Pietro had Hornsby in his sights, they being tied through
16. Lewinsky would complete the choke however (cough, cough!) with two disappointing shots on 18, falling into the cellar
once again. Pete did share the beer hole with Costa Doinbiznis, his first beer hole win in many years, and also avoided any
air-balls, also a first in many years.

THE DOCULAB CUP

After another two weekends lost to bad weather, the LGA returned to action on a sunny and warm Sunday for the Doculab Cup,
rescheduled after being postponed the previous Monday. Hale Erwin Norman, in his first LGA appearance in eight months,
shocked the field, rallying from a six shot deficit to take the event by a single shot over fellow lefty Dr. Mario Blondin. Although
Norman did not score a par until the par-4 16th hole, his avoidance of any number bigger than seven would prove good
enough in the vomit-reeking Lefty Golfers Association. As for runner-up Blondin, the doctor appeared destined to take the lead
in event wins for the season after a par on 18 put him past top rightie Fred Cupholders, but Norman's par-bogey-bogey finish,
together with Mario's horrendous 40 putt performance killed the doctor's dreams for this week. Even more disappointed was
the aforementioned Fred Cupholders, for whom a par on 18 would have sealed the victory. But the usually solid par-5 player
fired an eight instead, dropping him into third position. Cupholders can no longer claim to be undefeated in '06. Finishing in
fourth place was an even more disappointed Costa Doinbiznis. Entering the tournament as defending champion, 'The Biz'
ended his streak of consecutive wins on named LGA tournaments at five. Costa had the lead through nine holes, but his
trouble began on the par-4 9th, where he would score an eight (hurl!!!). Doinbiznis followed it up by starting the back with a
seven on the par-3 10th. Moving to fifth place we find Paul Hornsby III, who was, that's right, even more disappointed. 'Da Turd'
struggled with his short game once again, especially on the front nine, leading to yet another triple-digit round. Still, Hornsby
avoided the cellar, finishing a full dozen shots ahead of a resurgent Pietro Lewinsky, who, funnily, was not nearly as
disappointed. Perhaps it was because Lewinsky made par on the par-5 18th, his second of the season, or maybe it was
because his 117 was his season best. Or perhaps it's just the way he is. Also scheduled to play were Chris The 9-Iron Kid
and James Ganan, but both withdrew because they were still drunk from the night before.
