After a long and snowy winter, the LGA returned to action at an old stompin' ground from before the modern era, La
Madeleine. Although the conditions of the golf course were surprisingly great, the condition of the golfers was not, as the
scores so painfully indicate. Costa Doinbiznis emerged the least bad, entering the clubhouse on the century mark for an easy
seven stroke victory over top lefty Dr. Mario Blondin. The Biz scored four pars, but a collection of bad holes, and in particular,
his nine on the par-4 1st hole, would deny him a second straight opening round in double figures. Dr. Blondin was also
disappointed with his round. His 107 was his highest opening day score since 2001, when he also fired a 107. The doctor
also scored a nine on the par-4 first. Taking third spot, as predicted, was Paul Hornsby III. After scoring nine on the par-4 first
hole (sound familiar?), Paul continued on his mediocre way through 18 holes, pausing for a par on each of the nines.
Rounding out the field, and participating in his second consecutive, and second career opening day event, was Pietro
Lewinsky. Athough he scored a seven on the par-4 first hole, unlike his competitors, he would make up for it later with an 11
(heave!!!) on the par-3 8th hole, as well as a 10 and a couple of 9's elsewhere. Lewinsky walked off the 18th green with 132
shots on the scorecard. Although the LGA dedicated this season opener to Mugsy The Cat, who passed away over the winter,
it is not certain whether etiquette or indeed simple common decency allows for such low quality tributes for the dearly
departed, even if the deceased was an animal.

APRIL 26, 2008 - LES LEGENDES
DR. MARIO BLONDIN
*FRED CUPHOLDERS
*COSTA DOINBIZNIS
PAUL HORNSBY III
53-44---   97
49-50---   99
53-46---   99
53-57--- 110
The 2008 LGA season got into full swing (get it?) with a vist to Les Legendes. Although it was Fred Cupholders in his season
debut who led almost from wire to wire, it was Dr. Mario Blondin who took the event, his first win of the season, finishing off
with par-par for the two shot cushion. Blondin helped his cause with a birdie on the par-4 9th hole and a total of four pars.
Finishing in a second-place tie were the two righthanders in the field, Cupholders and Costa Doinbiznis. As already
mentioned, Fred led through most of the round, but just couldn't seem to make anything happen on the back nine, although
his 49 going out was the better than the competition, while Doinbiznis rallied, after scoring a front-nine 53, to break 100 with
decent 46 coming in. The Biz only putted 29 times during the event. He also fired a 10 on the par-5 2nd hole, as well as a 9 on
the par-5 12th, both effectively costing him the victory. Finishing in fourth place, for his first (and almost certainly not last) last
place finish of the year, was Paul Hornsby III, who continued to hit the ball everywhere but straight. His 10 on the par-5 2nd
hole was an example of the costly effects of crooked tee shots. Somehow he also managed three pars to come in at 110,
another disappointing score for 'Da Turd'. "I played well", Hornsby said to reporters after the event. Sure you did, Hornsby, sure.
